First, the housekeeping that search engines get wrong: PickyStory renamed. The app formerly listed as Bundles Upsell by PickyStory is now Amplify | Bundles & Upsell, developer Amplify, on the App Store since 2019, currently 4.5 stars across roughly 540 reviews. Same product, new name. If you searched for a PickyStory alternative, this is the page.
Short version: Amplify is a breadth play, one suite covering nearly every offer format on Shopify. Solid Bundles is a depth play on a single question: what does a kit order look like to your warehouse, your ERP, and your accountant. That narrow job is the whole product: bundles serious operations can trust.
What Amplify is genuinely good at
Format coverage that few apps match: fixed bundles, bundle-as-product, build-a-box, mix and match, shop the look, gift boxes, sample packs, wholesale bundles, frequently bought together, plus a slide cart from the same developer. Deep analytics and CSS-level customization on the single all-features plan, with live chat support and a 30-day trial. If your merchandising team wants one suite for every offer idea they will ever have, that is Amplify's pitch and it is a real one.
The pricing meter: your whole store, not your bundles
| APP | MODEL | MONTHLY PRICE | WHAT MOVES YOUR BILL |
|---|---|---|---|
| Amplify (ex-PickyStory) | Tiered by total store revenue | From $99.50 | Your store's total monthly revenue: the published entry tier covers stores up to $30k/month, with higher tiers above. 30-day trial. |
| Solid Bundles | Flat | $29 | Nothing. Same price at any store size and any volume. 14-day trial, free on dev stores. |
LAST VERIFIED: SEPTEMBER 4, 2026, FROM BOTH PUBLIC APP STORE LISTINGS
Note what Amplify's meter measures: total store revenue, not bundle results. A store doing $30k a month where bundles are five percent of sales pays the same as one where they are half. That is a legitimate way to price a suite, but if bundles are one job among many for you, you are paying suite prices for the one job. It is also simply a different order of magnitude: $99.50 against $29, before either app has proven anything on your store.
The ops questions to ask any suite
Amplify's listing permissions describe editing products, inventory and orders, including order edits. That is normal for a suite that reshapes offers after the fact, and it is exactly why the five-minute test exists. Before you depend on any app, ours included, get empirical answers to two questions. When do components enter the order: during checkout, or by an edit after the order exists? An edit races your 3PL's import, and under a fast integration the warehouse can pull the pre-edit version. And second: which of your records can the app write, and what is the blast radius if a write goes wrong?
Solid Bundles' answers are structural. Expansion happens during checkout through Shopify's native Cart Transform, so every order contains real component SKUs at original prices, with the discount allocated per line, from the moment it exists. And the app has no write access to your inventory at all: availability is computed live from component stock, so there is no write that could go wrong. A built-in verification tool proves pricing in every market you sell in, on demand and again every night.
Who should pick which
- Pick Amplify if you want one suite for every offer format, your merchandising cadence is high, live chat support matters, and suite pricing against your store's revenue pencils out.
- Pick Solid Bundles if the job is kits that survive a warehouse, an ERP, or many markets; if you want checkout-time expansion instead of order edits; if your inventory numbers must be untouchable; or if $99.50 a month is a lot for the one feature you actually need.
What is Solid Bundles?
Solid Bundles is Crescano's Shopify app for fixed bundles, kits and quantity breaks, built on Shopify's Cart Transform API. Real component SKUs land in every order by construction, the app never writes to your inventory, and verification re-runs every night in every market. Flat $29 per month at any volume. The setup guide, 3PL guide, and troubleshooting docs are public.
Install the trial, place a test order, and read the order in Shopify admin. Five minutes tells you more than any comparison page, including this one. Migrating bundles from another app? I do it personally at no cost, usually within a day: email [email protected].
